How to Convert VCF to Excel (vCard to Spreadsheet)

July 13, 2026

VCF files are how contacts get exported from phones, Gmail, Outlook — basically everything. But opening a VCF file to actually work with your contacts is a pain. They are designed for machines, not people.

When I need to clean up my contacts, remove duplicates, or merge lists from different sources, I always convert VCF to Excel first. In a spreadsheet you can sort, filter, and edit everything at once. Here is how to do it.

What is a VCF file? ▼It is a contact file format — stores names, phone numbers, email addresses, and other contact info. Phones, Gmail, and Outlook all use it for importing and exporting contacts. Can I just edit the VCF file directly? ▼Technically yes, it is plain text. But for more than a few contacts, editing raw VCF is tedious and error-prone. Convert to Excel, make your changes, then convert back. Can I convert multiple VCF files at once? ▼Yes, most online converters handle multiple files. ConvertPivot's VCF tool lets you select several files. For very large batches, combine them into one VCF first. What fields get preserved? ▼Names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, company info, and job titles. Multiple numbers (work, home, mobile) each get their own column. Photos do not transfer to Excel. Can I convert Excel back to VCF? ▼Yes. Use ConvertPivot's CSV to VCF tool. Just make sure your columns are mapped to the right fields.
